Hostaway is a leading vacation rental software for ambitious property managers, helping them automate and grow their business. The company, which was founded by a team from the tech-savvy cities of Toronto and Helsinki, has gone from strength to strength in the last few years, being recognized as a premium software partner of Airbnb, Booking.com, and Vrbo, expanding its marketplace and growing its customer base. In May 2023, Hostaway announced that it has secured $175 million in PE funding, the largest single funding transaction in the short term rental software market to date.


The Challenge

Abode Worldwide has worked closely with the team at Hostaway, including CEO & Co-Founder Marcus Rader and COO & Co-founder Saber Kordestanchi since June 2021. We were first approached by Hostaway because of our team’s industry connections and proven history of providing expert public relations in the vacation rental tech space.

Their vision was clear: to be the market leader in the short-term rental industry, loved by property managers globally. Our strategy was to establish and grow the company’s reputation as a leading player in the short-term rental sector through communication of Hostaway’s growth trajectory, the leadership team’s industry expertise, and sharing quick-fire data insights from the company with target industry press and speaking opportunities.

Our Solution

We built a strategic roadmap with implemented tactical plans to maximise visibility and positioning across national and industry press, conference speaking and podcast interviews. We first announced Hostaway’s marketplace milestone of over 100 integrations to the press, followed by their new direct booking website builder and preferred partnership awards from Vrbo & Airbnb. To gain maximum exposure for Hostaway in the US – their key market – we leveraged data, backed up with leadership insight, to successfully land coverage in top tier coverage including Forbes, Washington Post, BBC, Skift, The Canadian Press, Fortune and Yahoo.


To date, we’ve secured almost 300 media coverage and speaking opportunities for Hostaway across industry and national press, podcasts, and events, including PhocusWire, Skift, The Globe & Mail, BBC Travel, Travolution, The Toronto Star, TechCrunch, Fortune, Forbes and STR industry press.
