STAA Announcement

Short Term Accommodation Association appoints Abode Worldwide as its public relations agency

Lodging & hospitality public relations specialist, Abode Worldwide, is thrilled to announce that it has been appointed by the UK Short Term Accommodation Association (STAA) as its retained public relations agency.

The STAA was founded in 2017 to support the burgeoning short term rental sector. Its ultimate aim is to work collaboratively with all stakeholders towards a stable and supportive regulatory environment that promotes the UK as a global leader in this space. The STAA jointly runs the annual Short Stay Summit, which will take place in London on 27 April 2023, bringing property managers, hosts, and vendors together to learn and grow.

Originally launched around the same time to cater to this growing niche, Abode Worldwide has partnered with some of the largest operators and innovative technology solutions in the sector, including ALTIDO, Breezeway, Hostaway, Xplorie, 3Sixty, Key Data, and PointCentral. The agency has since expanded to work with global pioneers across all the lodging, living, and hospitality sectors, but it was the team’s expert understanding of the opportunities and challenges currently facing the short term rental industry that ultimately secured the STAA account.

Abode Worldwide will deliver strategic communications and media relations for the STAA, striving to cement a positive reputation for the association and its members inside and outside the industry.

Jessica Gillingham, CEO & Founder of Abode Worldwide, said: “The STAA is going to play a huge role in the success of the short term rental industry and its work has never been more important. The sector faces challenges from all sides, most recently in the form of proposed legislative changes which would require some rental owners to secure planning permission. The industry’s contribution to job creation, tourism and the economy has always been undervalued and we’ll be working hard to ensure the STAA’s advocacy is heard clearly by those in government.”

Andy Fenner, CEO of the STAA, said: “We’re delighted that we can lean into the Abode Worldwide team’s expertise to help us capitalise on media opportunities and ensure the voice of our members is heard. With the short term rental industry responsible for an economic contribution worth over £27bn a year to the UK, this felt like the right time to turbocharge our media relations and we’re delighted with the results so far.”
