Here is a summary of our interview with Thorhildur:

How are you feeling about ITB this year?

ITB—it’s a great event. You come and everybody is here. For us, this year has been a really good event. We have met with some of our really good clients, partners, and it’s always good to see what is going on in the industry.

What is the solution that Sweeply offers the hotel market?

Sweeply is a housekeeping and task management system. We are really focusing on making life easier for hotels. Hotels really need to become more efficient and there are so many tasks and things you need to do within the daily operations and we take care of all that. We create simple tasks around everything that you need to do— which room needs to be cleaned, inspected, and all the maintenance and we have this really simple application that handles all of this and prioritizes the tasks.

How can Sweeply help hotels use tech to deliver authentic, personalized experiences?

Even though we are on the operational side, the guest really wants the stay to be personalized. The guest is coming, and maybe the guest doesn’t want daily cleaning. You are there with your children, and you don’t want to tell your children to clean before the housekeeping is coming. We enable the hotel to make the stay personalized. When do you want the cleaning to be done? And also with the maintenance—to have a better overview of the maintenance the quality goes up so we are increasing the quality of the buildings and the whole operation.

What does the future hold for hotels regarding hospitality tech?

I think the future is very interesting. Hoteliers are implementing a lot of new tech and AI. In the future, we will see better integration between systems and also using the tech smartly and wisely.

Using the technology to do all the simple tasks and then you have more time for doing things that create more value for the guest. You know—recommending a good restaurant and not scanning passports. I think that is the key here and we at Sweeply are just helping in this.

What are you most excited about for Sweeply in the next year?

Next year—we are doing a lot of things. We are always developing our product and have a lot of new features coming up.

We are an Icelandic-based company, but we are in 26 countries and we are really looking forward to increasing in the European market and creating more value.
