Abode Index: The state of hotel tech investment 2025

In 2025, the hospitality industry is at a crossroads. Economic pressure, rising costs, labor shortages, and evolving guest expectations are forcing hotels to rethink how they operate — and technology is leading that evolution.

To understand where the industry is headed, you need more than surface-level commentary. That’s why we created the Abode Index: The state of hotel tech investment 2025 — a one-of-a-kind report that maps out the funding trends, standout startups, and investor priorities shaping the next era of hotel technology.

The full report is packed with insights you won’t find anywhere else: deep-dive funding data, interviews with founders who’ve raised millions, and a breakdown of 30 companies driving innovation across the sector.

Here’s a quick preview of what we uncovered.

Booming hotel tech categories

Three areas are dominating hotel tech investment: revenue-focused solutions, property management systems, and guest experience platforms.

Revenue-focused solutions are a magnet for capital

Solutions designed to help hotels boost revenue, including commercial intelligence and revenue management systems (RMS), attracted over $480 million in funding between December 2023 and April 2025. As hotels seek smarter, AI-powered tools for market analysis,  pricing, forecasting, and profitability, investors are paying attention.

The standout example is Lighthouse, which secured $370 million in Series C funding and achieved unicorn status, highlighting the demand for sophisticated data intelligence, revenue optimization, and demand forecasting solutions.

Property management systems: the backbone of hotel operations

Property management systems (PMS) continue to attract serious capital, with $375 million invested across multiple players. Mews led the charge with three separate funding rounds totaling nearly $290 million raised in just over a year, a testament to the market’s appetite for scalable, cloud-native platforms.

Others, like Apaleo, are also innovating fast, with open integrations and AI marketplaces that help hoteliers modernize their tech stacks with ease.

Guest experience tech: a growing priority

Guest-facing technology is becoming central to operational efficiency and guest satisfaction. The sector attracted $73 million, with companies like Canary Technologies leading the way with tools for digital check-in, keyless entry, automated messaging, and fraud prevention — all aimed at delivering a seamless guest journey while lightening staff workloads.

Global investment hotspots

Hospitality tech investment is happening worldwide, with several countries emerging as major innovation hubs.

  • The UK dominates the charts, thanks largely to Lighthouse’s landmark raise.
  • The Czech Republic made waves with Mews’s multiple rounds of funding.
  • The United States continued to show strength, especially in guest experience technology and AI automation.
  • Israel and Egypt are rising players, attracting millions in backing for e-procurement and operational platforms.
  • South Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan are gaining traction in AI voice assistants, PMS, and guest engagement solutions.

This global spread reflects a diverse, interconnected tech ecosystem where innovation is happening across markets.

Where the money’s going: funding stages and investor focus

Growth-stage funding is leading the pack. Series B and C rounds made up the lion’s share of capital, reflecting investor confidence in companies with clear market traction, established customer bases, and strong revenue models.

That said, early-stage innovation is far from dormant. Nine companies secured pre-seed or seed rounds, particularly in automation and AI-driven guest solutions. Five others landed Series A funding, proving that the appetite for fresh, scalable ideas is still strong, especially when those ideas solve real, operational pain points.
